It actually feels like Spring!

The weather this year has been unreal here in Utah! We are loving it and so is little Charlie!
We spend so much of our time at the park (it is Charlie's favorite place to be!). It was so warm this last week that Charlie spent most of the time trying to stay in my shadow so he could stay cool.
This is one of my favorite pictures of him! It shows his cute little personality perfectly!
Every time after we come home from the park Charlie finds a cozy spot and takes a nice long nap.
Saturday morning long walk with my boys!
I couldn't stop taking pictures of all of the breathtaking blossoms!
Charlie giving me a big slobbery kiss :)
Saturday was my little sister's 8th birthday! I was so sad I couldn't be there but I am so grateful for technology that makes me feel like I am!
Saturday evening I had the privilege of going to the LDS Women's conference in downtown Salt Lake City with my Sister-in-law, Mother-in-law, soon to be sister-in-law and her family.
Temple Square is my favorite place in the world!
Isn't my sister-in-law the prettiest?
It sure is nice to come home to this cute face though!

When God Says No

With trials in life, sometimes it is easy to feel abandoned by God. When prayers of pleading and desire seem to go unanswered it is easy to wonder why. I was having one of these moments of confusion about a month ago. In my moments of trial or sadness I often turn to music to lift my spirits and remind me of God's love for me. On this specific day the following song came on. I knew that it was God's way of answering my question of why; why is this happening to me? Why does it seem my prayers and righteous desires are going unanswered? The words of the song spoke it clear and simple.
It is because he loves us and he wants us to grow. He knows best our path here on the earth. With faith and a knowledge of His love for us, we can move through trials knowing he always hears our prayers. But rather than always answering them the way we want he answers them the way that is best for us. The way that will ultimately bring us the most happiness.

I hope these words can bring someone out there the same peace they have brought me!
Happy Sunday friends!

A little boy at the end of a day knelt by his bed to say a prayer
And Father up in Heaven heard the prayer he prayed
And listened to each word with greatest care

The boy said,
"Please bless that tomorrow I won't have to take a bath,
And bless that they will cancel school for snow."
And God had the power to protect him and never let him grow
But He said, "No."

A young man was holding tightly to the hand of a girl who had to say
And as she walked away he had to whisper a prayer
As he fought every tear that filled his eyes

He whispered,
"Please can you make her turn around and change her mind?
It's the deepest hurt that I have ever known."
And God had the power to protect him and never let him grow
But He said, "No."

And there are yeses that our father can hardly wait to give
And they are packed in every crevice of the lives we live
Sometimes God will pour down miracles and amazing twists of fate
And other times He chooses just to whisper, "Wait."

How many times have I prayed for blue skies
So no one has to cancel the game
And I feel so abandoned when the sky gets dark
Never knowing all the ones who prayed for rain

And usually the story's even trickier than this
With solutions that only God could know

But if you ask Him if He's ever overlooked you
Or ceased to love you so
He'll say, "No."

Each year when it starts getting warm, my desire to shop increases 100%. My current obsession is sandals. I could literally buy every one of these. But sadly that will never happen. so instead I'm sharing them with you! These are my favorite sandal trends for 2015!

The Crater and more fun

Last week we had a fun mid week date with some other great couples. We went to the crater at the Homestead in Midway Utah. I had heard about this place and it definitely lived up to everything! It was SO fun. Basically it is a hot spring under ground and is over 72 feet deep! We didn't do any scuba diving though. We just enjoyed floating around in the warm water.
Goodness, this spring weather has been phenomenal! And the resulting blooms are amazing! I have to keep myself from taking too many pictures of all of them.
Now time for all of my Charlie pictures...(I'm sorry there are so many, but I can't stop!)
With the warmer weather, Charlie has started to lay down on the tile to cool his furry self off.
I love that he still likes to nap in my arms. It really makes him feel like my baby.
This picture is super bad quality but I just love it. My whole little family cuddling up together for movie night.
Poor Charlie was neutered last week. He was pretty unhappy with me when I picked him up from the vet. It was really sad. He wouldn't come out of his crate or look at me for a few hours.
But he was all better and back to his happy, playful self the next day.
Somehow Charlie knows when his daddy is supposed to be home and waits by the door. It is the cutest thing ever!
Saturday was in a word, perfect. I spent the whole day with my two boys. We enjoyed the warm weather with various activities and had a in-n-out picnic in the park.
I painted my nails to match the weather.

Saturday we also made a trip to Home Depot (we love that place) to find some plants to fill our home with. These succulents are my favorite!
So my cousins convinced me that snapchat is awesome and now I'm addicted! (username:Elisehhunter!) So here are some of my favorites from the last week.
Have a great day!!

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

I love baking and experimenting with baking. I have so many recipes that I have found or created over the years that I love. But I have always struggled with the basic Chocolate Chip Cookie. I have gone back and forth between recipes and have never really been completely satisfied. Some were too flat, others too cakey. Finally I found a recipe that is perfect!!  You will want to make these ASAP.

  • 3/4 cup (1.5 sticks) salted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup  packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup  sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips (I usually use 3/4 a bag)

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Soften butter in microwave (as shown here)
  • Beat sugars with softened butter until smooth
  • Add vanilla and egg to mixture and mix until smooth
  • In a separate bowl mix together dry ingredients
  • Add mixed dry ingredients to wet ingredient mixture.
  • Stir in Chocolate Chips!
  • Form dough into tablespoon sized balls and place on a un-greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake in the oven for 6-12 minutes (varies with different ovens)
  • Watch for a very slight browning of edges (they wont look done when you take them out of the oven)
  • Cool on a cooling rack
  • Enjoy!

Charlie, Charlie and more Charlie

I've realized that all of my pictures have quickly become about Charlie! But that's ok because he really is the most exciting thing going on in our lives right now and he's just too cute not to take a hundred pictures of daily haha.
First off, if you didn't see on my instagram, I'm getting another sister! Scott's little brother got engaged last week and we're pretty excited for them! They are the cutest!
We purchased some puppy gates for the house and Charlie is not a fan when we leave him on the other side. He likes to be by my side all the time.
Charlie loves it when we go to visit Scott's family because there are lots of people who want to play with him. He loves it.
Haha Charlie definitely knows how to give a look when he's tired and your being noisy. Friend me on snapchat (username elisehhunter) for some pretty hilarious videos and pics of charlie. His bath videos last night were cracking me up!
We're so happy when dad comes home to play!
He fell asleep on me like this and my heart melted into a puddle.
Thursday night Scott and I went to our first ever Food Truck round up. It was a lot of fun and delicious! I've been dying to try Art City Donuts for a long time now, so it was definitely the highlight for me.
 Charlie wanted some too.
Charlie turned 3 months old on Friday and I can't believe it! We've already had him for a whole month!
I had to snap this picture at the park to show you all what happens everyday. Charlie sure is a social pup. Whenever we go to the part he heads right over to the playground so he can play with all the little people. He loves them and they love him so it works out pretty well.
