Christmas Celebrations

Oh my goodness, I haven't blogged in forever! So first off, Merry Christmas!!
The week before Christmas Scott was in Florida for a business trip. I missed him lots. So, to pass the time I went Christmas Shopping, wrapped gifts, baked yummy things, cut paper snowflakes and put together neighbor gifts.
Aren't those cookie tins so cute? I found them at the dollar store!
My family came into town on Monday and we spent the day decorating cookies, making a gingerbread house, watching a Christmas movie, shopping and eating cafe rio of course. It was fantastic! That night we spent the evening with all of my extended family for our annual progressive dinner. We ate delicious food, exchanged our gifts, rang our Christmas bells and sang Christmas carols.
Sadly, I woke up Tuesday morning sick as a dog. It was a pretty horrible day. I finally went to the doctor that evening and was diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis (had never heard of that before) it's also called the "stomach flu" and basically, it has been my worst enemy. I can say, that I found the only way to lose weight over the holiday though.
Christmas Eve I wok up feeling SO much better! We went out to lunch with my family. I didn't get anything to eat and only drank my Gatorade. The look the waiter gave me was pretty hilarious. I should have told him I wasn't contagious.
We spent Christmas Eve night with Scott's family. It was a lot of fun. We ate homemade clam chowder in bread bowls (well everyone else did haha), sang Christmas Carols, acted out the nativity (hilarious.) and opened our pajamas.
We woke up to three beautiful inches of snow! A Christmas miracle!
We spent Christmas morning with Scott's family and then went over to spend some time with my family later in the day at my uncle's house.
My little sis made herself a comfy bed amid the present opening mess.
The day after Christmas we spent with my family before they started their drive back to New Mexico and then we went with Scott's family that night to see the lights on Temple Square.
Temple Square is probably my favorite place in the world. So many wonderful and beautiful memories there.
You can't see us very well and we're pretty bundled up because it was FREEZING, but we're there.

Weekend of Wedding Fun

This past weekend was such a treat! My mom flew into town for a family friend's wedding and we had a little too much fun. We spent Friday in downtown Salt Lake eating at our favorite burger place, shopping, laughing and just having a blast. Right before we took this picture we accidentally knocked one of the presents out of Santa's sleigh and got the death stare from a bystander. It was hilarious and that's why this picture is so awesome.
I spent most of the day Saturday studying for my Praxis exam, but in the evening we headed to the wedding reception. It was one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever been to. The reception was held at the McCune mansion and it was so amazing.
We had so much fun enjoying a delicious dinner, cake, dancing like we were in high school, playing in the photo booth and seeing old friends.
This was the incredible view from the mansion.
And of course a picture of the beautiful bride and groom!

DIY Christmas Decoration

I am a lover of crafts, but even more so of Christmas crafts!
We moved our Christmas tree this year to be in our bay window (which looks so awesome, I should have listened to Scott last year), but it left a big blank space. Right as you walk into our little apartment there is a door to the water heater that I always try to keep a decoration on. I made this craft for Halloween last year and so I thought I'd make a rendition for Christmas and this is the result.
You'll need cardboard letters, white paint, spray glue/adhesive and glitter. Also ribbon and a hot glue gun if you want to hang it.
I bought everything at hobby lobby (make sure to use your 40% coupon that you get once a week- I always just look it up on my phone at checkout)
You start by painting the letters with a few coats of white paint. Once they are dry, spray each letter one at a time with adhesive and use your hands to pour glitter over the letter. Start at the bottom with a lot of glitter and slowly use less as you move up the letter to get the ombre effect.
I think the letters look so good at this point and if I had a mantle or somewhere to set them that's probably what I would do with them. But I needed them to hang so I hot glued them to a white ribbon, hung it from a wreath hanger on the door and tied a bow at the top with another cut of ribbon.
I really like the way it turned out, and it looks even better when the house lights are off, the Christmas lights are on and it glitters.
Tag me in pictures if you make it or a variation! I love to see!

Thanksgiving Celebrations

I haven't blogged in forever so I've got a lot to cover.
Before we left for thanksgiving vacation one of my best friends Stefani hosted a Friendsgiving celebration. It was so much fun to enjoy a thanksgiving feast with close friends. Also, the decor and table setting were so cute!
For Thanksgiving vacation we spent a whole week at Marriott's Newport Coast Villas with my family, aunt, uncle, cute cousins and my grandma and grandpa. It was amazing.
Monday the whole gang went to DISNEYLAND. My mom, being the amazing planner that she is, planned to get us there early and somehow we were there 2 hours early! It was hilarious. We got there before the parking structure even opened. Let's just say we were definitely the first in line and one of the first in the park.
Being early was great though because we got so many rides in before all of the crowds came.
I didn't take enough pictures at Disneyland, we were all just having too much fun.
We also played a lot of tennis during the week. It was so much fun to play and also to watch how pro my little brother has become. We've always been a tennis family.
We spent a lot of time at the beach boogie boarding and playing in the sand with the little ones. The big boys build this pyramid and sphinx. The kids thought it was pretty amazing but loved destroying it at the end of the day more than anything else.
When we weren't at the beach, we were usually at the pool. Scott and Emily were the chicken champions.
The pools were amazing with some pretty fantastic views.
These kids are so much fun! I don't get to see them very often and they always look so much bigger every time I do. I really wish we lived closer. They made the trip so much better.
Thanksgiving day we took some family photos on the beach. They turned out pretty good considering the sun was burning our eyes haha.
She is the cutest thing ever.

Basically it was a perfect week and I wish I could go back and do it all over again.
