We're more educated

We graduated!
It was such an awesome weekend!! The best part was having my family in town (minus the little bro:( I miss you nick!!). They are just so wonderful and supportive. I couldn't have accomplished this if it weren't for their support and examples.
 I just love them!
We went out to a dinner at the Cheesecake factory with my family Thursday night.(that place is unreal- blows my mind how good it is every time). My cousin McKenzie and my aunt Tami were both graduating as well, so their family joined us and we had quite the fun, entertaining and delicious dinner.
Ok, how cute is my little sissy??

We were kind of happy about graduating.....

And today I start graduate school....haha.
I'm excited though! Because I get to park in graduate parking... and I love what I do :)

This is a hard one for me to write guys....

I'm pretty sure I am like any girl out there and have struggled with my body image. I've been through some pretty low lows and some pretty high highs. I gained a freshman 20 or maybe more. I've worked hard to get fit, run a half-marathon and a sprint triathlon. When I'm consistently working out and being healthy I'm happier, have more energy and feel better about myself.
I feel like it makes me a better person.

Even now, I would consider myself pretty good at working out at least 4-5 times a week and eating quite healthy. But, I still have quite a few moments where I'm unhappy with my weight and my body. I think that's normal for any girl.

I realized about a month ago that my body had reached a plateau. Unless I change something about the way I eat or the way I workout I'm going to stay the same.  I needed to push myself.

My answer came in the form of an email from REVOLT fitness. They offered to let me try their program and meal plans for 12 weeks and blog about it. I did a little research and wow, the results from this program are amazing!! It comes with weekly meal plans, daily workout videos and a whole bunch of support through a private facebook group.

I'm really excited to include you on my journey to get into better shape! From now on, Mondays on Hunters of Happiness will be my weekly Revolt fitness update. (Hubby is doing along with me too)

Now to the hardest part........
Part of revolt is taking before pics. I have debated multiple times about putting these up or not. But this is part of the journey. I didn't suck it in or try to look good in these photos, so I don't. Please don't judge :)

Before stats// 124lbs  30% body fat (I had NO clue it was that high!!)

Here's to a new journey for me! I'm so excited to say bye-bye to those before pics!

I'm sorry I've been so MIA as of late, but with finals and graduation blogging gets pushed to the side.
I'll be back soon:)

I just wanted to share a little quote today.
A friend shared this thought at church on Sunday and it really got me thinking.
I think it couldn't be more true.
This simple thought made me reevaluate my life, how I spend my time and who I serve.
I want to give more time and put more effort into serving others-whether it's big or small.
It couldn't hurt right??

Some girly stuff....

So you all know that I was recently married, and probably the best part of all the wedding planning was picking my dress. I wanted something stylish, modest and affordable. So today, I thought I would show you some wedding dresses and trends that I am loving.
In the past couple of years, the bridal industry has quietly been shifting away from plunging necklines and skin-tight mermaid gowns to embrace pearls, soft lace and yesteryear charm. Modest fabrics and minimal makeup are floating down aisles these days.
Pinterest-savvy brides have begun learning to rework family heirloom gowns and customize accessories to achieve the feminine grace of previous generations on their wedding day. In this world, antique lace, brooch bouquets and mismatched china place settings reign supreme. Luckily, brides looking to plan a unique, budget wedding have many options for reasonable wedding attire; many gowns come in at under $1,000 if you know where to look.

The A-line Isabella Lace dress by Ann Taylor is an example of looking elegant while on a budget. Tailored with beautiful cap sleeves and a dramatic back cutout, this dress is appropriate for a formal church wedding while keeping the bride on-trend. Ladies can add a colored sash or unique hair jewelry to let their individuality shine.
Another gown by LightInTheBox is a steal at $244.99. The made-to-order dress is constructed of light satin that is gathered into diagonal ruching at the waist. A sequined lace bodice adds a tasteful quality while also featuring cap sleeves and a cut-out back. A small swoop train lends some drama.

Perhaps the most exciting trend is the revival of the full, classic ball gown. David's Bridal carries the Tulle Ball Gown by Vera Wang gown, constructed from whisper-soft yards of cloud-like fabric. A simple jeweled sash lets the asymmetrical gathering of the gown be the focus, and wide straps and a square neckline discreetly cover the chest and create a gorgeous frame for a pretty necklace.
Another style detail, no doubt fueled by Kate Middleton's royal wedding dress, is long sleeves. A sleeve can set your dress apart in a sea of strapless to make it church-appropriate and regal. Many brides opt for a jacket to get the look of a long sleeved dress while having the freedom to be more casual at their reception. FishInTheSky carries a cropped fitted lace bolero jacket that will visually blend with a gown to appear as if it is part of the dress. The jacket is a good way to add visual texture to a gown made entirely of smooth satin or lace. JenJenHouse offers a gathered tulle jacket that is a nice contrast to a detailed lace dress. It is slightly loose and very lightweight, making it ideal for warm-weather weddings.

Sometimes you just need a burger and fries

I always try to eat healthy, but every once and a while you just need a good burger and fries.
Scott and I have been perfecting this meal for the last year. We first made it back when we were dating.
It is one of my favorite meals that we consistently make together.

There is no real recipe to our Juicy Turkey Burger.

1. Take 1 package of ground turkey, mix in about a 1/4 C A1 sauce and 1/4 C bread crumbs.
2. Form patties and grill them until golden brown on both sides (Scott is the grill master, I think he adds garlic salt and lemon pepper to the patties as he grills them) you can melt some cheese on them if you fancy.
3. We wrap them in lettuce instead of using buns to make them even healthier and we like them that way. But if you're a bun lover, by all means, eat them with buns!

P.S. we LOVE our Cuisinart 5-in-1 griddler. It's like a George Foreman on Steroids.

Our turkey burgers wouldn't be half as good without Alexia sweet potato fries.
They are seriously THE BEST!
We season ours with pepper and salt before cooking them. The secret is broiling them for 5-7 minutes at the end of their cooking time so that they get crispy.

There you have it, our favorite turkey burger and sweet potato fries!

And now, for the winner of the Triangle Statement Necklace....
Jessica Ashcroft!! from love,love,love.
Congrats Jess

A lot of thoughts

My mind has been racing with so many different thoughts.

Last day of College classes.
A missing little girl.
5 months of marriage.

I found out about the Boston Marathon Bombings in my one o'clock class yesterday and immediately had a pit in my stomach. I knew my parents were visiting Boston this week and wasn't sure if they were in the city yet. I spent the next hour sick with worry. They weren't answering their cell phones and I couldn't find out when they had arrived. Finally I got a phone call and texts from my parents saying they had just landed in Boston and were on their way to their Hotel. I was so glad they were safe.

Moments like this make you realize what's really important. What really matters.

Yesterday was also my last day of undergraduate classes. I know I'll be going back for graduate school only 3 days after graduation, but it won't be the same. I won't be on campus, in the library, student center or any of my regular classrooms. It will be very different. And don't get me wrong, I'm very excited. I was just feeling nostalgic. This campus, my classes and my experiences have been so fantastic these last 4 years.

Now it's time to move on to bigger and better things.

On top of the mixture Boston and Graduating, I came home to find out a young girl in our neighborhood had gone missing. It was just too much for one day. My heart was broken for her poor parents and I couldn't stop worrying about this cute little girl that I had never met. I'm so happy that she was found this morning.

The light at the end of the tunnel.

Today Scott and I have been married for 5 months. In a way it seems like we've been married WAY longer than that. It's cheesy, but I can't remember my life without him. We're two peas in a pod now. But in another way, it seems like a long time. 5 months ago today was the best day ever because I was sealed to my best friend (who's also super good looking, hardworking and practically perfect).

So ya, lots of thoughts today.
Happy five months you handsome man!

The ingredients for an awesome date night

When you're in love with your best friend, everything is fun!!
Just like our Friday night date.

If you live in the Utah Valley area, you MUST go to our favorite Mexican place- Maria Bonitas.
You will love Maria (she's the happiest, friendliest lady you will ever meet) and you will die over the food.
I'm sure everything is amazingly delicious, but Scott and I are hooked on the chicken fajitas. You can't go wrong ordering them. There is enough for us to share and take home leftovers-- which makes this an extremely affordable date night meal.
Then we headed to the Bijou market. Which was fabulous. Not Scott's fav since it involved a lot of jewelry
decor and girly things. He was a good sport though:)
After our short walk around the market we drove out to Utah lake, walked out to the end of the wave break, found a flat rock, cuddled up and watched the sun set. It was gorgeous and romantic. I love these simple but precious memories with my man.
To finish off the night, we rented The Life of Pi. We were curious about this movie after seeing it win so many Oscars. Now, any movie is great when cuddled up with your love, but lets just say we really really really liked this movie-- we've watched this movie three times now. I don't want to give anything away, because I think part of the reason we loved this movie so much was that we knew absolutely nothing about it. But, if you haven't seen it, go see it! If nothing else, the computer graphics will amaze you.
