Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter!!
I love Easter. Not only does it come with yummy candy, egg decorating and awesome surprises from hubby; it celebrates the most amazing, perfect and loving man to ever live.
I am so grateful for my savior Jesus Christ, his example and his sacrifice. It means everything to me.

but by it I can see everything"- C.S. Lewis

Wardrobe Wednesday//tucked and belted

Everyone's body types are different and we each have our individual struggles with getting clothing to fit right.
It's always a good day when you go shopping, try something on, and it fits PERFECT. Because in reality that almost never happens. At least for me.

I usually have to roll my pants because they're too long, buy a size up in a shirt because my shoulders are a little wider than most and many times, I have to pass up on a perfectly good top because it is too long and hits me in an unflattering way.

For that last one, about shirt being too long for my short torso, there is a great solution!
TUCK it in!
I used to detest to tuck it in look when I was younger. I thought that was what grannies did. But on a short torso girl like me a good tucking goes a long way.

Magic of Homemade Tortillas

A few Sundays ago we came home from church excited to make burritos for dinner. As I got out all of the ingredients I realized we were out of tortillas. I was SO bummed. I was so set on having burritos.
Lucky for me, I have a husband who served his LDS mission in Mexico and he quickly said we should just make them. Make tortillas? I didn't know if it could be done, but we totally impressed ourselves! They would have never succeeded without Scott's hispanic knowledge.

The first two we made were so thick that they were more like pita bread than tortillas. Then hubby remembered a trick he saw in Mexico. Cut a plastic bag  into a circle and put it between the dough and the rolling pin. It keeps the dough from sticking to the pin and also from shrinking. It makes them paper thin!!

We liked them so much we made them again, and again.  I wanted them to be a little healthier so we substituted white flour for whole wheat flour. Surprisingly, they were AWESOME! We love them even more than the plain flour ones.

Another plus is that making our own tortillas is CHEAP. And Scott has fun making them. Takes him right back to the good ole' days in Mexico.

Homemade Flour or Whole Wheat Tortillas

2 cups all purpose flour (or whole wheat)
1/2 tsp Salt
3/4 Cup water
3 Tablespoons Olive Oil

+Combine flour and salt.
+Stir in Water and Oil.
+On a floured surface (all purpose flour) knead the dough for 8-10 minutes -add water if needed or flour if sticky
+let the dough sit for 10 minutes
+On floured surface (all purpose) separate dough into 8-9 sections.
+Lightly flour the top of your dough, cover with plastic bag (cut into circle)and roll out into thin circle.
+ Cook on nonstick skillet sprayed with cooking spray at medium heat
+ cook each tortilla for about a minute on both sides

Serve them however you like!
We like to keep it healthy with taco seasoned ground turkey, black beans, corn, tomatoes, lettuce and salsa!

Sunday style// Not so mini skirt

Sweater// Gap   Skirt//F21   Shoes//Forever Young
Watch//Kate spade   Bracelet//leather man in Prague   Necklace & Earrings// Anthro

I found this skirt at Forever 21 and instantly fell in love with the print. Sadly, It was a mini skirt and way too short for my liking (if you can't tell, I like to dress really modestly). But I though I'd try on the XL to see if I could get the length... and SUCCESS! It doesn't fit perfect, but I still love it.

Happy Sunday!

Lindsey Orton Photograpy

Thank Goodness It's Friday!

This week has had it's fun moments, but it's also been really slow. My hubby left for a business trip in San Diego on Tuesday and wouldn't get back until Sunday :( That's 5 whole days in a house and bed all by myself. I've been able to keep myself pretty busy, but this is the first time we've been apart for more than our normal 8 hours in a day since we were married and.. I MISS HIM.

So, last night before I went to bed, I locked up the house, turned off all the lights, locked our bedroom door too (you can never be too safe haha) and went to bed.

I woke up in the middle of the night to a sound. I sat up in bed and saw that the light was on in the hallway. OH MY GOSH.
 I freaked out.

Then there was a loud banging on our door. I quickly grabbed my phone to call 911 and said "who's there?".  A man's voice said "Me" and maybe it was because I was so nervous but I didn't believe it was Scott. So I said "Scott is that really you?" haha
"Yes it is really me Elise".

I opened the door with my hand shaking to find Scott standing there.
I was so relieved and so excited. But my heart was still racing. :)

Long story short, it was super scary but super awesome!

I love when Scott surprises me and comes home early!!

but maybe not in the middle of the night when I was thinking about the YouTube video about the rapist in Lincoln Park and him "climbin' in your windows and snatchin your people up" right before I went to sleep.

I know, I know, I'm ridiculous:)

now needed

Do you every buy something and after the fact wonder how you ever lived without it?
Ya, I think it happens a lot.

I'm not a huge make-up girl. I like to keep it looking natural. All the makeup I own can fit in my one little makeup bag. I know this isn't the case for a lot of people.

Because of my described lack of passion towards makeup, I rarely, if ever, wore any foundation. Just slapped on the mascara and the liner and called it good. But, after I got engaged and was getting ready to take engagement photos I learned that foundation was a must do behind the camera. I'm not an expert, so I went to Sephora and they showed me the best foundation around. Forever HD.
Ok guys, It's so wonderful and light, and feels like I'm not wearing any makeup at all. It's now one of those few must haves in my small makeup bag.

Just about a month ago, I found another "how did I live without you" purchase. Sephora again pulled through for me. One of the ladies recommended I try a concealer. Concealer? I didn't even know what that was. But  let me tell you, it does a world of difference. I love it. It makes me look awake when I'm really not :)

You all probably already know about all this stuff. But if you didn't, and you're in the hunt for some new makeup items, check these ones out. Because I couldn't live without em'.
